Toronto man arrested after four days of robberies

TORONTO, Ont. – Following a four-day stretch during which he allegedly robbed four banks and attempted to rob one retail store, Tyrone Jason Wilson was arrested by the Toronto Police Service (TPS) on April 7. Wilson, 42, is accused of stealing money from four separate bank branches from April 4 to 7, according to a TPS press release. In each of the first three incidents, he is alleged to have handed a note saying that he had a gun and demanding cash to bank staff; in the fourth, Wilson reportedly told a bank teller verbally that he was carrying a gun and was robbing the bank. On April 5, he allegedly entered a store in Toronto’s Greektown area, told staff that he had a gun and demanded money, but became agitated and eventually left with nothing. Wilson is now charged with five counts of robbery and made his first appearance in court on April 8.
