Provincial court receives bomb threat

DARTMOUTH, N.S. – A court building in Dartmouth was searched on the afternoon of July 9, after a man phoned 9-1-1 and said that there was a bomb in the building. Officers with a K-9 unit from the Halifax Regional Police (HRP) arrived at Dartmouth Provincial Court shortly after the call, which had been received at 12:53 p.m., according to an HRP press release. Upon arrival, police immediately cleared the building and sealed it off to prevent further entry, although they did not evacuate any personnel. A search of the courthouse found nothing suspicious, so its regular operations resumed by 2:20 p.m. But the HRP’s integrated criminal-investigation division is investigating the incident and seeking any information from the public regarding the identity of the 9-1-1 caller.
