Police arrest man suspected of two Toronto bank robberies

TORONTO, Ont. – The Toronto Police Service (TPS) announced on Sept. 1 that it had captured and charged a 23-year-old man who is accused of robbing two TD Canada Trust locations in Etobicoke in August. According to a TPS media release, a man robbed the TD bank located at Bloor Street West and Jane Street on Aug. 12; the same man also robbed another bank in the Richview Square mall on Aug. 29. Shortly after the second incident, police arrested Jesse Lawrence Demers and charged him with two counts of robbery. Demers was then scheduled to make his first court appearance in courtroom 101 of Toronto’s Old City Hall on Aug. 30.
