Gas-station armed robber arrested, with two charges expected

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – The Prince George RCMP has detained a local man for allegedly robbing a service station with an unspecified blunt object on Sept. 2. Early that afternoon, a man entered the service station alone and demanded cash from the clerk, threatening him with the blunt object, according to an RCMP press release. No one was injured in the incident, as the station worker cooperated by giving the man a small, unspecified amount of money before the latter fled the business. The local RCMP received a call about the robbery at about 1:30 p.m. and provided a description of the perpetrator to officers patrolling the area. The officers caught a suspect within four minutes of the incident, police said. “A 20-year-old Prince George man will be held in custody at least until his first court appearance, scheduled for Thursday September 3rd,” wrote Cpl. Craig Douglass, media liaison officer for the Prince George RCMP, in the release. “Robbery and Uttering Threats charges are anticipated.” Officers recovered all of the stolen money, and a police service dog helped them to find the weapon nearby.
