Residential facility for first responders with PTSD to open

RODNEY, Ont. – The Stable Grounds, Canada’s first residential therapy centre exclusively for treating first responders and uniformed professionals suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), is set to open at the end of February, according to an online announcement from the facility. The centre, which is located on farm grounds southwest of London, Ont., is holding an open house for community leaders, supporters and industry representatives on the afternoon of Feb. 23, with its first guests taking up residence the following week. The Stable Grounds is a privately owned facility offering 30-, 60- and 90-day treatment programs with individual, group and even equine-assisted therapy options, information from the centre’s website states. “We believe that our residential program provides comprehensive treatment that improves recovery times and rates,” the announcement read, “and allows our guests to work through the healing journey without interruption and with ongoing emotional support.” The facility includes nine private bedrooms, a six-stall horse barn and trails for hiking or biking.
