MELFORT, Sask. – A horticulture and agriculture company based in Rivière-Du-Loup, Que. has been ordered to pay a fine of $28,000 for violating occupational health and safety regulations at its Saskatchewan shipping yard. Premier Horticulture Ltd. was charged for an incident that had occurred in Oct. 2013, when two forklifts had collided in the yard, seriously injuring one of the firm’s employees, according to a press release from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety. At Melfort Provincial Court in Melfort, Sask., Premier pleaded guilty to one count of failing to develop and enforce a traffic-control plan for its work vehicles.
