Chiropractor murdered at his own clinic; former patient accused

BURLINGTON, Ont. – The owner and operator of a chiropractic clinic in Burlington has died of gunshot wounds, following an alleged shooting by a former patient on March 16. A media release from the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) stated that officers had responded to a report of a double shooting at 12:05 p.m. that day. Dr. Ferdinand “Fred” Mejilla, 50, succumbed to his injuries after being sent to a hospital, police said. The suspected shooter, 44-year-old David Williamson, was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound that was believed to be self-inflicted; he passed away on March 20. Dr. Mejilla left behind five children and several patients following the fatality, police said.
